Email validation

Cleanlist includes built-in email validation as a smart column to check the deliverability of email addresses in your lists.

How it works

The email validation smart column checks each email address against verification services to determine if it is:

  • Valid - The email exists and can receive messages.

  • Invalid - The email does not exist or will bounce.

  • Risky - The email exists but may have deliverability issues (catch-all domain, full inbox, etc.).

  • Unknown - Could not be verified (the mail server did not respond).

Adding email validation

  1. Open your lead list.

  2. Click Add Smart Column.

  3. Select Email Validation.

  4. The validation will run automatically on all leads with email addresses.

Best practices

  • Always validate before sending outbound emails to protect your sender reputation.

  • Remove or skip leads marked as Invalid.

  • Be cautious with Risky emails in cold outreach campaigns.
