Importing a Sales Navigator CSV

Import a CSV of Sales Navigator leads you already hold and are allowed to use with Import from CSV, then enrich it with verified emails and phone numbers in Cleanlist.

Who this is for: self-serve plans (Free, Starter, Pro, Enterprise). If you bought a Cleanlist AppSumo lifetime deal, your features, limits, and pricing are different. See the AppSumo documentation instead. Support agent: confirm whether the user is self-serve or AppSumo before giving plan-specific advice.

TL;DR: To enrich Sales Navigator leads in Cleanlist, save the leads you already hold and are allowed to use as a CSV, then use Import from CSV in any lead list (Lead Lists → open a list → Actions → Import → Import from CSV). It works on every plan. Adding leads is free. On Free, Starter and AppSumo, rows imported without enrichment get a profile lookup at 0.2 credits per row found. A verified email costs 1 credit and a phone 10, only when found.

Sales Navigator CSV import

If your team keeps prospect lists in Sales Navigator, you can enrich those leads in Cleanlist from a CSV. A Sales Navigator CSV goes through the same Import from CSV flow as any other file, and Cleanlist enriches each row with verified emails and phone numbers through waterfall enrichment across its contracted data providers.

The import uses only the file you upload. It does not connect to your Sales Navigator account.

Before you start

  • Any plan. Import from CSV works on Free, Starter, Pro, Enterprise, the Pro trial and every AppSumo tier.

  • A file of leads you already hold and are allowed to use, one row per person, with a header row. CSV and Excel (.csv, .xlsx, .xls) are accepted; for Excel only the first sheet is read.

  • Credits for the enrichment you choose. Adding leads is free.

  • Room in the list. Leads per list: Free 100, Starter and Pro 2,500, Pro trial 300 (in up to 5 lists). Enterprise limits are set by your contract, and AppSumo tiers have their own caps (see AppSumo plans). If your file is bigger than the list allows, Cleanlist tells you before you import ("Your plan allows ... leads per list").

What the file should contain

Cleanlist maps six fields. Each row needs one of these:

  • a LinkedIn URL (the most reliable match), or

  • a name (Full name, or First name and Last name) plus a company (Company name or Domain / website)

Field in Cleanlist

What to map to it

LinkedIn URL

The person's profile URL, used as an identifier. Rows with a URL match far more reliably

Full name

One column with the whole name

First name and Last name

Separate name columns

Company name

The person's employer

Domain / website

The company's website, which narrows the match

Other columns, such as title or location:

  • Pro, Enterprise and the Pro trial: every other column is kept as a custom column under its original header.

  • Free, Starter and AppSumo: other columns are ignored. Cleanlist fills in job title, company and location with a profile lookup instead (see [Credit costs](#credit-costs)).

Cleanlist does not map email or phone columns from your file into its contact fields. Use enrichment to find and verify them.

Steps

Step 1: Open a lead list

  1. Open the Cleanlist portal and go to Lead Lists

  2. Open an existing list, or click New → New Lead List, enter a List name, and click Create list. A name like "Sales Nav, Q4 fintech" keeps it findable

The import adds leads to the list you have open.

Step 2: Upload the file

  1. In the list, click Actions (⌘A), open the Import tab and choose Import from CSV. On an empty list, Insert leads opens the same drawer

  2. Drag your file onto Provide CSV or Excel File, or browse to it

Step 3: Map your columns

Under Map your columns, the table shows We need, In your file and Example. Cleanlist suggests a column for each field from your headers. Fix anything it guessed wrong, or set a field to Not mapped. A green banner ("You're good to go") confirms how many people can be imported; a red banner says what is missing.

Step 4: Choose enrichment and import

Under Enrichment Type, tick what to find for each row:

  • Email: a verified work email, 1 credit per email found

  • Phone: a phone number, 10 credits per phone found

Email is ticked by default. With both ticked a row costs up to 11 credits, and each part is charged only when found. Click Start Enrichment.

To add the leads without enrichment, untick both and click Import Records. You can enrich later from the Actions drawer.

If your balance does not cover every row, Cleanlist enriches as many rows as it can afford and imports the rest without enrichment.

Step 5: Review the results

The import runs in the background. While Cleanlist fills in profiles, a "Filling in profiles" progress bar shows, followed by a summary of how many rows were filled.

Each row then holds the person's details, plus a verified email and phone if you chose enrichment. The Status column shows each email's validity.

Rows Cleanlist could not look up stay pending, with an amber warning on the name. Hover it to see Profile not filled in and the reason:

  • "No LinkedIn profile matched this name and company."

  • "Several people match this name and company."

  • "Not enough to look this person up: add a first and last name with a company, or a LinkedIn URL."

  • "Not looked up: your workspace ran out of credits."

Duplicates are always skipped and counted. Cleanlist matches them by LinkedIn URL first, then by email, and the confirmation message shows how many were skipped.

Email and Phone

Up to 11 per row

The profile lookup also applies to legacy plans that don't include the new Agents.

Tips

  1. Start small. Test with 25 to 50 rows to check your column mapping before a large upload.

  2. Include LinkedIn URLs. They are the strongest identifier and give the most reliable matches.

  3. Email first. Start with Email only, then run Find Phone from the Actions drawer on your priority contacts.

  4. Check your balance. Confirm you have enough credits in Settings → Plans & billing (app.cleanlist.ai/plans) before a large run.

  5. Qualify after import. Run the Qualification skill from Actions → Skills to prioritize outreach. See Skills.
