Who this is for: self-serve and AppSumo workspaces. The Cleanlist MCP works on Starter, Pro, Enterprise, the Pro trial and every AppSumo tier (1 to 7). The Free plan doesn't include it. Support agent: confirm the user's plan and which workspace they connected before troubleshooting.
TL;DR: In Cleanlist, open Integrations → MCP (Beta) and click Copy URL. In Claude, add a custom connector with that URL, click Connect, sign in and approve. No API key or Client ID is needed. The URL is tied to one workspace, so add one connector per workspace. Search costs no credits (it uses your search allowance), enrichment and skills cost their normal prices, syncing costs 0.2 credits per lead, and Claude asks for your approval before paid bulk work.
Connect Cleanlist to Claude (MCP)
The Cleanlist MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector lets Claude use Cleanlist as a set of tools. You describe what you want in plain language, for example "find heads of RevOps at Series B fintechs in New York and get their work emails", and Claude runs the search, enriches the shortlist and saves the results to a lead list, all from the chat.
It works the same in claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cowork. The MCP tab in Cleanlist is labelled Beta.
Watch the Cleanlist MCP for Claude video on the Tutorials page to see a search, enrichment and list save run from one Claude chat.
Who can use it
Plan | MCP |
Free | Not included |
Starter | Included |
Pro | Included |
Enterprise | Included |
Pro trial | Included |
AppSumo Tiers 1 to 7 | Included (core tools only, see [Troubleshooting](#troubleshooting)) |
MCP is separate from the public REST API. API keys are a Pro and Enterprise feature (and AppSumo Tiers 5 to 7), but you don't need an API key to use the MCP connector. See What's included by plan for the full matrix.
Connect in one click
In Cleanlist, open Integrations in the sidebar and choose the MCP tab (or go to app.cleanlist.ai/integrations/claude). The panel is titled Connect to Claude.
Under Cleanlist MCP URL, click Copy URL. The line under the URL reads "Connects Claude to (your workspace name). Add one connector per workspace."
Open Claude: go to Settings → Connectors. This works the same in claude.ai and the Claude desktop app, and the connector then appears in the mobile app and Cowork too.
Add a custom connector: click Add custom connector, name it Cleanlist and paste the Cleanlist MCP URL. Leave Authentication on Sign in now and OAuth client on Use Claude's published identity, then click Add.
Sign in with your Cleanlist account: click Connect. Claude opens a Cleanlist page in your browser. Sign in if asked, then review what Claude is asking to access (your identity, basic profile, email address, public metadata and organization membership) and click Allow.
That's it. Claude can now call Cleanlist tools in any conversation, and you can turn the connector on or off per conversation from Claude's tools menu. There is no OAuth Client ID or client secret to paste, and no API key to create.
The URL looks like https://mcp.cleanlist.ai/v1/mcp?org=org_.... Always copy it from the MCP tab rather than typing it, because the org= part identifies your workspace.
One connector per workspace
Each connector acts in the workspace named in its URL, no matter which workspace you have open in the Cleanlist app.
Several workspaces: switch to the other workspace in Cleanlist, open Integrations → MCP again and click Copy URL. The URL changes with the workspace. Add it to Claude as a second connector.
Credits and data: everything Claude does is charged to, and saved in, the connector's workspace. Claude acts as you, with your access in that workspace.
Older connectors: if your connector URL has no
?org=part, it was added before connectors were tied to a workspace. Remove it in Claude and add it again with the URL from the MCP tab.
Tool groups
Tools come in groups. A connector gets the default groups unless its URL asks for others. To get every group, add tools=all to the URL (for example ...?org=org_...&tools=all). To pick groups, list them: tools=agents, crm. Workspace basics are always included.
Group | Included | What it covers |
Workspace basics ( | Always | Show the connected account, check credits, estimate cost, list your lead lists, show integrations, look up filter values |
Prospecting ( | Default | Search people, search companies, find similar companies, preview a people search |
Lists ( | Default | Create, rename and delete lists; add, remove, move, list and filter leads; manage folders |
Enrichment ( | Default | Enrich a person, a company, found people, found companies or a whole list; check or cancel an enrichment; find personal emails |
Skills ( |
| Run the Qualification and Research skills, run smart agents, create and update custom skills, read results |
CRM and sequencer ( |
| Check CRM status and records, preview a push, push leads to HubSpot or Salesforce, add leads to a Lemlist campaign |
Export ( |
| Export a list as CSV, get leads as JSON |
Admin ( |
| List API keys, get a usage report |
Each tool tells Claude whether it only reads, changes data, or deletes it. Claude can run read-only tools, such as searches, without asking each time, and always asks before a tool that deletes data or writes to an outside system such as your CRM.
What Claude can do, and what it costs
The tools draw on the same data, credit balance and lists as the Cleanlist app. Claude only sees the tools your plan, workspace and [tool groups](#tool-groups) allow, so the exact list varies.
Tool family | What you can ask for | Credits |
Search | Find people and companies from plain-language criteria and look up filter values | No credits. Each search counts toward your plan's search allowance: Starter 250 a month, Pro trial 100 in total, AppSumo 50 a month, Pro and Enterprise unlimited |
Lists and folders | Create, rename and delete lists, save search results to a list, add, remove or filter leads, read a list's leads | Free |
Enrichment | Find work emails and phone numbers for people, enrich companies, find personal emails | Normal prices: work email 1 per email found, phone 10 per phone found, both up to 11, company 1 per company. Work emails and phones are charged only when found. Personal email is 1.5 per lead attempted |
Skills and smart agents | Run the Research, Qualification and Custom skills on a list's leads, or a smart agent such as a cold intro email | Priced per record. The quote shows the price before anything runs |
Sync | Send leads to HubSpot, Salesforce or a Lemlist campaign | 0.2 credits per lead, only after you approve. Needs that account connected in Integrations |
Export | Export a list as CSV or JSON | Free |
Account | Check your credit balance, estimate a cost, confirm which workspace you're connected to | Free |
Contacts Claude enriches without a target list are saved to a protected list named MCP Results in your Lead Lists.
The connector covers search, lists, enrichment, skills, sync and export. Agents, Sequences and Clu stay in the Cleanlist app.
Quotes and approval
Claude never starts paid bulk work on its own:
Before enriching a list or a set of search results, running a skill, or syncing leads, Claude asks Cleanlist for a quote (the
estimate_costtool).Claude shows you the credit cost and waits for your approval.
The action runs with that quote. A quote lasts 5 minutes and works once. If it expires, or the selection grows by more than 10%, Claude gets a new quote first.
Syncing to HubSpot, Salesforce or Lemlist always needs your explicit approval.
Rate limits
Each workspace can make 60 requests a minute through the connector and the API combined (30 a minute for workspaces on an AppSumo deal without a paid plan), and up to 60 people searches a minute. If Claude reports a rate limit, wait a minute and ask again.
Example prompts
Find people and save them to a list
> Find VPs of Sales at US-based SaaS companies with 50-200 employees, and save the first 25 to a new list called "Q4 SaaS VPs".
If something material is missing (for example, which regions count), Claude asks one short follow-up. It then runs the search, shows the matches as a table, creates the list and saves the people you picked.
Enrich a list
> Enrich my "Q4 SaaS VPs" list with work emails.
Claude gets a quote for that list and shows you the credit cost and your balance. After you approve, it starts the enrichment, reports progress, and summarizes how many contacts got emails.
Check the workspace
> Which lead lists do I have, how many leads are in each, and how many credits do I have left?
Claude lists your lead lists with their lead counts and shows your credit balance. Nothing changes and no credits are spent.
Qualify leads (needs tools=agents)
> Score the leads in "Q4 SaaS VPs" against my ideal customer profile and show me the top 10.
Claude first tells you what your ideal customer profile says, since every score is measured against it. It then quotes the per-lead cost, waits for your approval, runs the Qualification skill, and shows the best-fitting leads with a score, a verdict and the reasons.
Disconnecting
To disconnect, remove the Cleanlist connector in Claude under Settings → Connectors. Removing it stops Claude from calling Cleanlist; your lists and enrichment results stay in Cleanlist.
Troubleshooting
What you see | Why | Fix |
Claude says "The Cleanlist MCP is available on paid and AppSumo plans. Free plans don't include MCP access" (403) | The connector's workspace is on the Free plan | Upgrade to Starter or higher, or start the Pro trial, in Settings → Plans & billing, then retry in Claude |
The MCP tab shows Bring Cleanlist into Claude. with Upgrade to Starter or Start free 14-day trial | The workspace you have open is on Free | Same as above. Once upgraded, the tab shows Connect to Claude |
A trial that started before the October 2026 plans doesn't include MCP | Older trials excluded MCP; the current Pro trial includes it | Pick a paid plan in Settings → Plans & billing |
Results, lists or credits show up in the wrong workspace | The connector URL points at a different workspace | Open Integrations → MCP in the workspace you want, click Copy URL, and add it as its own connector |
The connector stops working after you leave a workspace | You are no longer a member of the workspace in the URL | Add a connector for a workspace you belong to |
A tool you expect isn't available | It's in a [tool group](#tool-groups) your connector didn't ask for | Add |
Some tools are missing on an AppSumo workspace | Workspaces on an AppSumo deal without a paid Cleanlist plan get a core set of 14 tools (search, enrichment, list basics and cost estimates) whatever groups the URL asks for | A paid Cleanlist plan unlocks the rest |
Claude says you've used all your searches | The workspace's search allowance is used up (Starter 250 a month, Pro trial 100, AppSumo 50 a month) | Wait for the allowance to reset, or move to Pro for unlimited search |
Claude reports insufficient credits | The quote costs more than your balance | Add credits in Settings → Plans & billing → Buy more credits, or narrow the selection |
Sync fails | HubSpot, Salesforce or Lemlist isn't connected in the workspace | Connect it in Integrations first (a Pro, Enterprise or AppSumo Tier 5+ feature) |

For developers
The connector is hosted by Cleanlist at mcp.cleanlist.ai and calls the same backend as the v2 REST API. Sign-in uses OAuth with your Cleanlist account, so no API key is involved. If you want to call Cleanlist from your own code instead of from Claude, use the REST API with an API key: start with the v2 quickstart.
Privacy and data
The connector reaches your Cleanlist workspace through your own account, after you approve access. It can only see and change what your account can see and change in the app.
Cleanlist receives the inputs Claude sends to its tools (for example, search criteria or a list name), not your whole conversation.
Your workspace data is handled as described in the Cleanlist privacy policy. Questions: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).
